postheadericon How to Think Positively in Tough Times

Sometimes it’s hard to look on the bright side even when things are going fairly well. When you’re going through tough times, gaining the “glass is half full” mentality can be a feat in itself! Don’t Get Overwhelmed When you’re in the middle of a stressful situation, it’s important to disallow over-anxious and over-analyzed thoughts. You really don’t want to overwhelm yourself with an over-stimulated mind because the added stress will only strain your mind further and you’ll find it nearly impossible to think positively. Ways To Look On The Bright Side How you go about transforming difficult situations into positive outcomes will differ each time. Your goal should be to discover a set of strategies that works well for you. It might take some experimenting, but that’s okay! Consider the following ways to achieve a positive mindset: 1. Avoid feeling sorry for yourself. Feeling sorry for yourself only wastes precious brainpower and it’s not going to help you out in the long run. Instead, strive to gain the wisdom to accept your situation and focus on solutions, instead of sorrow or worry. Everyone has to travel through tough times at some point; it’s just a part of life! 2. Find the life lesson. It may be hard to find the silver lining, but it’s almost always hiding somewhere. All of your experiences – both good and bad – contribute to your life’s knowle Continue Reading...

postheadericon Action Strategies to Help You Stop Overreacting

We can often overreact to situations without even knowing it. How does this happen?  Well, we allow our emotions to take over. Once you gain control over your emotions you’ll be able to choose better reactions, which leads to better solutions. It’s important to remember that no one is perfect. Everyone overreacts from time to time. It’s when your overreactions become the norm that you should seek a better way. Consider the following action strategies to help you stop overreacting: 1. The art of not reacting. In order to stop overreacting, you can try using the art of not reacting. This means that when you’re presented with a certain situation, your goal will be to not react at all. Instead, you’ll take the time to think about the situation and then formulate your action. 2. Let out your emotions. Let yourself feel your emotions as they come to you and find positive ways to express them. When you let your emotions build up, they become stronger inside of you. It’s difficult to stop yourself from overreacting when you’re full of pent up emotion. 3. Take a time out. If you tend to overreact with anger, it’s vital to allow yourself some cool down time. If you feel emotions building inside you, instead of bursting out, go somewhere where you know you can be alone. Cooling down will help you to react with a clear head. 4. Write it down. Instead of reacting to a situation at all, go write it down. Writin Continue Reading...

postheadericon Living in the Moment – Succeeding One Moment at a Time

When you live consciously in the present moment, you’re free from the stresses of life. It enables you to feel calm and to think with an astounding clarity. Living in the moment sounds easy, but it will take some effort until you get into the habit. After all, with so much going on around us, it’s easy to get distracted by fears, worries, frustrations, and stress. But once you get used to it, though, you’ll wonder how you could have lived any other way! What can you do to make living in the moment your way of life? Try these steps in order to gain present-moment thinking: 1. Meditate. The very point of meditation is to live in the present moment and accept things just as they are. It’s a practice that you’ll get better at the more you do it. To help quiet your mind, the best thing you can do is focus on your breathing and keep striving to release your thoughts with each breath you take. 2. Accept the past. You’ll feel better about yourself once you learn to accept past situations. There’s nothing you can do to change the past. Bringing the past into your present only clouds your present thinking and makes it harder for you to concentrate on the present moment. * Thoughts of the past will still arise, but when you learn to accept it for what it is, you’ll be able to return to the present moment without regret or grief. 3. Accept the future. On the other side of the coin, you also need to accept the Continue Reading...

postheadericon I take life one day at a time.

My life is a great adventure and I want to be able to appreciate every moment. Taking life one day at a time provides me the opportunity to do this. I let go of worrying about the past or the future and immerse myself in the present day. Each morning, as the dawn brings me a new day, I look forward with excitement to living with purpose. Each day brings me new opportunities. It’s like I get a fresh start on life every morning, and I love this feeling! I make no pre-suppositions about what the day will bring. If it brings challenges, I know I have the confidence to find solutions to overcome them. If it brings pleasant things, I can enjoy them and be grateful for their presence. Living my life one day at a time also gets me through the hard times in my life. If it’s a particularly difficult day, I remind myself that, “This, too, shall pass,” and I know that it is only one step – one day – in my life’s journey. I make the best of every day, for I know that I will not have this opportunity again. When I make a conscious effort to take advantage of everything each day brings, I find that there are more and more great days after that! Making a habit of taking life one day at a time reduces my stress, makes my life more exciting, and brings me more joy than anything else I could do. Today, I choose to let the past stay in the past, let the future bring what it may, and immerse myself in this present day. Self- Continue Reading...
